Moonlight Testing CenterUSAID (www.esdproj.org)
In Kenya, temporary HIV testing clinics are held at night and provide clients with a degree of privacy.
Description
The United Nations estimates that more than a million people in Kenya are living with HIV and AIDS. These numbers are difficult to measure, however, because about two-thirds of the country's 37 million people have never been tested for the virus.
Part of the problem is the shame associated with getting tested. Several organizations have set up so-called "moonlight testing centers" around the country, so that people can get tested under cover of darkness. Reporter Wairimu Gitahi visited a center in eastern Kenya and filed this report.
